A Special Day for Ella

We got Ella up early and surprised her with the news that we were going to Disneyland! That sure perked her up.

A 30 minute RER ride later (it wasn't that simple, but that's how I want to remember it), we got to stand in line to go through security, which allowed us to stand in line to buy tickets. The tickets got us in the gate so we could then choose which other lines we wanted to stand in.

It seems to be laid out pretty much like Disneyland in California. The chateau in the middle is not as spectacular as I'd expected. But it was Sleeping Beauty's crib, and she ain't a big shot like Cinderella.

Inside the castle there is a little balcony area with some neato stained glass windows.

This may be the first stained glass window in France that Ella actually liked.

We hit the carousel, then Dumbo!

Ella loves the Dumbo ride. Can you tell?

JJ and Ella went on the Teacups next, but I skipped it because I don't like rides. Especially ones that spin. They reported that the teacup was hard to spin.

While JJ was off riding Space Mountain 2, I took Ella to the ropes course. Actually, it was "Adventure Isle."

Ella's old friends, Mickey and Minnie. Mickey is pronounced "mee-kay."

Ella loved the rocket ride, which is the same as Dumbo but it goes higher and faster. I did not dig it, so when they went on it again for the last ride of the day, I stayed behind.

The surprise of the day was the Small World ride. This version didn't smell like a dank Motel 6 bathroom like the one in California does.

Sing the song! You know you want to: It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small world! They actually sell a CD with the song on it. But you have to hand it to the songwriters; it uses the three time repeat trick to really stick it in your head.

I took a zillion more photos, but I'll spare you.

Ella had a blast and despite the crowds and lines, it was a pretty enjoyable day for the grown-ups as well.
